Slackware Linux

Slackware is the oldest Linux distribution still being actively maintained.

Slackware is the most “Unix-like” Linux distribution by focusing on design stability and simplicity. It tries not to anticipate use cases or preclude user decisions by making as few changes as possible to software packages from upstream. Unlike most modern Linux distributions, Slackware lacks a graphical installation process and does not automatically resolve software package dependencies. Instead, configuration and administration rely on plain text files and a small number of shell scripts.

It boots into a command-line interface environment without further modification. Slackware is often best suited for advanced and technically inclined Linux users due to its many conservative and simplistic features.

A complete set of development tools, editors, and current libraries is included for users who want to develop or compile additional software.
